Value for money consultant for £120m Partnership for Transforming Health Systems project working in partnership with the government of Nigeria to improve the planning, financing and delivery of sustainable health services for those in most need. Current assignment is to develop and implement a value for money framework which uses expenditure, operational and results data to articulate and demonstrate the economy, efficiency and effectiveness of the project. The framework combines quantitative indicators and qualitative data to demonstrate and improve value for money. It involves working closely with senior management and their teams to institutionalise framework and providing training for staff to increase understanding of value for money and how to apply the framework in practice.
ENR, Society for Family Health (DFID funded) HIV and AIDS response project, Nigeria
Value for money consultant for £108m Enhancing Nigeria’s Response to HIV and AIDS project working with State and Federal Ministries of Health to strengthen health systems to prevent HIV and mitigate the impact of AIDS. Developed a framework of quantitative and qualitative indicators and evidence to report and monitor value for money. Conducted a rapid assessment of the project to establish performance against indicators and to make recommendations on the improving the economy, efficiency and effectiveness of the project.
WINNN, Save the Children (DFID funded) Improving Maternal, Newborn and Child Nutrition project, Nigeria
Value for money consultant for £50m Improving Maternal, Newborn and Child Nutrition, Northern Nigeria project delivering nutrition interventions through routine services funded by government. Facilitated a consultation and capacity building process to develop a framework of quantitative and qualitative indicators to routinely report and monitor value for money. Engaged with multiple stakeholders (UNICEF, ACF and DFID) to agree the framework and implementation plan.
The Royal Free Hampstead NHS Trust Healthcare provider, UK
Programme lead for £75m Value for Money programme delivering transformational change in a large teaching hospital. Established programme office and governance arrangements to run a £75m quality, innovation and efficiency programme, reporting directly to the Trust Executive. Provided hands on support to managers and clinicians on specific projects including cost analysis, stakeholder engagement and project management skills transfer. Strengthened governance arrangements for financial, quality and risk reporting and regularly reported programme to the Board. Managed trust wide communications and engagement activities including a staff suggestion incentive scheme, stakeholder innovation workshops. Designed web portal and produced content for internal and external communication briefings.
Calcutta Rescue Community Health NGO, India
Commissioned by Chief Executive to review and revise the management information system of medium size NGO. Worked with finance and statistics departments to design and build new system for reporting financial and operational performance indicators. Set up quarterly reporting process to improve timeliness of management information to board of governors and quality of reports to international donors. Developed and delivered training and handover documentation.
Anjali Mental Health NGO, India
Worked with founder and director of mental health and human rights NGO. Conducted a review of national mental health programme implementation using case studies of NGO and state providers in Chennai, Kolkata and Karnataka state. Captured and shared learnings between organisations.
The Royal Free Hampstead NHS Trust Healthcare provider, UK
Programme manager for £46m cost improvement programme supporting implementation of cost improvement projects across clinical and back office services. Supported operational managers to develop and maintain project plans with key milestones to be achieved and contingency plans for projects unlikely to deliver savings. Responsible for designing and maintaining programme financial tracking schedule. Worked with finance team to produce internal and external progress reports. Developed and maintained robust partnership working arrangements with operational management, executive directors, finance and HR managers.
Newham University Hospital NHS Trust Healthcare provider, UK
Project manager for design and development dynamic demand and capacity model to support operational decision making and planning in order to use resources efficiently and provide quality outpatient services. Designed the specification and managed the technical development of the model. Co-ordinated the data collection and analysis for data inputs. Worked with multiple stakeholders including information analysts, operational managers and clinicians to design and test model for gastroenterology patient pathway.
Ealing Hospital NHS Trust Healthcare provider
Project manager for service improvement programme which increased the number of patients waiting less than 18 weeks for inpatient treatment from 40% to over 90% meeting the national target. Planned and implemented approach involving process redesign of admissions booking, data validation exercise and regular performance management. Engaged and managed stakeholders and worked alongside key staff regularly transferring knowledge, skills and tools to ensure sustainability of improvements.
10 Downing Street Government policy unit
Member of small team commissioned by Prime Minister’s Senior Health Advisor to design and run a seminar on integration between primary and secondary care. Designed and co-facilitated session with Chief Executives of Foundation Trusts in primary and secondary care. Officials involved found it very useful to understand FT’s strategic drivers and to explore how these Trusts could more formally be involved in policy making.
Chelsea and Westminster NHS Trust Healthcare provider
Project manager for service improvement programme which increased the number of patients waiting less than 18 weeks for outpatient treatment from 75% to 95 % to meet national target. Developed tracking and monitoring system to report progress against target. Set up and managed improved process to for waiting list management and worked closely with operational managers and clinicians to optimise resources and increase activity.

Commissioned by Chief Executive to conduct a strategic review of advice and guidance services for young people. Designed service review framework to include children and young people in the review. Engaged with range of stakeholders to develop recommendations and delivery plan.
Kids Company Child rights and welfare NGO, UK
Independent evaluator for social enterprise providing practical, emotional and educational support to vulnerable inner city children. Led evaluation of outcomes and effectiveness of schools program and co-authored report with recommendations to Department for Education of Skills and HM Treasury (joint funders) on delivering children’s support services in schools. Produced analysis for Chief Executive’s public speeches and published two book reviews in academic journals

Change management coordinator for implementation of new finance and procurement systems in all prisons in England and Wales. Led change management activities for two regions of national programme. Facilitated change readiness workshops, administered and analysed survey data, developed change planning tools and coached local implementers.

Designed and delivered training for community health organisations supporting them to be sustainable post grant funding through developing as social enterprises.
